📈 Markets Monday for 2025-12-01

My screener was particularly selective today with just two “picks and shovels” purveyors of the AI compute trade, showing that the market is still hungry for specialized GPU cloud providers aka Neocloud providers.

I’ve enjoyed using my Limitless Pendant but the company has been acquired by Meta (an ecosystem I try to avoid).

Users can now download a copy of all their Limitless data and request deletion of their Limitless data.

✅ Final Thoughts Friday for 2025-12-05

🍿 + 💰 One big story this week was Netflix planning to spend ~$83B for Warner Bros Discovery to secure Warner Brothers studio, HBO, and Max.

🤖 + 💰 Also, big story for users of Limitless Pendant… Limitless is joining the Meta devices division. I guess this isn’t shocking considering the increasing numbers of Meta glasses I’ve noticed at conferences.

🤔 While I’ve enjoyed using my Limitless Pendant, the company has been acquired by Meta… which is an ecosystem I try to avoid.

🗑️ So, my biggest story of the week is my plan to follow the instructions to download a copy of Limitless data and request deletion of Limitless data that I’ve enjoyed gathering since the first beta.

YMMV.

🔮 Sneak Peak Saturday for 2025-12-06

Friday is for burying news you hope people ignore or sleep through entirely. This Friday night, one story caught my eye like a fictional fiery flying creature soaring into the slow news day journalism night sky.

Meta’s mixed reality glasses project, “Phoenix”, is rising from the ashes not yet rising from the ashes, per a “leaked” memo. The timing of this leak avoids any immediate stock hit to the recent bump and misses the window for any of the weekend long-form think-pieces about Meta’s other burning metaverse cash pile corrections.

76 weeks and the future of Hot Fudge Daily

Also, as a side note, today marks 76 weeks of the Hot Fudge Daily format. Next week, I’ll be starting a brand new format. I’m excited to flip the script a bit. Thank you for subscribing and reading!

I’m going to attempt using GoToSocial’s RSS for driving my workflow over the next few weeks to see if it sticks.

Right now, I’m proficient with VS Code, python, and the prior workflow I optimized for Hot Fudge Daily. Ideally, I’d like to

  • Get everything driven from CLI or cron (why not both?)
  • Use Markdown that is simple and portable (image processing?)
  • Leverage prior python scripts (because refactoring is needed)
  • Break up the daily topical (to be more more thinkish)
  • Drop the pretense of title’s with dates that lack context (because 🌶️ Hot Fudge Sunday for 2025-12-07 doesn’t quite sell it, ya know?)
  • Unbury the lede (Descriptions become telling titles)

That thing where you haven’t read anything on social media all day and then all of a sudden you inadvertently become slightly more informed about something that happened earlier that day which only serves to reinforce a bias about what you believe to be true but you second guess yourself because of the fast approaching collapse of implicit trust in an ever widening distance between reality, authenticity, origination, attribution, non-repudiation, and the marvel that is a frothy melange of generative AI plausible deniability.

Or, what I like to call a Modern Monday.

Prompt: Create a dual-axis chart comparing Google+ (red) and Google Gemini (blue) across three phases: Launch Phase, Active/Standalone Peak, and Total Ecosystem Reach. Use a grouped bar chart for Monthly Active Users (Millions) on the primary Y-axis with data points for G+ [25, 300, 540] and Gemini [90, 650, 2000]. Overlay trend lines for Average Session Duration (Minutes) on the secondary Y-axis with data points for G+ [0.5, 0.1, 0.05] and Gemini [3.0, 11.0, 1.5]. Annotate all bars and line points with their respective values and include a clear legend.

Oh no… it’s the dreaded year in review post.

I’ve been writing daily for years and can’t recall the last time I took a break. I’ve been late to send or had a few technical hiccups but otherwise… typing and sending.

This year I stopped attempting LinkedIn Newsletters. I decided POSSE, n8n, and python scripts would be my approach to sharing as LinkedIn posts instead with options for Fediverse (originally Mastodon now GoToSocial) and Bluesky.

My LinkedIn traffic was lower this year with only 179,507 Impressions, 4,713 Engagements, and 3,253 Profile Viewers. I set a mini-goal of reaching 6,000 followers by the end of 2025 and as of this email I am sitting at around 5,985.

Oddly enough, my three most popular posts on LinkedIn in 2025 were one mistakenly late published article… and two copy/paste from my actual newsletter / blog.

When I look at the entire year of posts, my reach spikes significantly when I am a “live reporter” for industry events like Tech Field Day, All Things AI, CISE, SXSW, etc.

I traveled a lot this year and reached Diamond levels on Delta, Hilton, and Marriott. So, if that travel level continues in 2026, perhaps I’ll be seeing more spikes in my reach.

As for writing in 2026, I might slow it down a bit. My formulaic approach for Hot Fudge Daily lasted for well over a year but I missed Fudge Factor nerdy stuff.
