Final Thoughts Friday for 2024-07-12
Recapping the week, navigating coffee meetups, and planning future events while updating websites and experimenting with social platforms.
Final Thoughts Friday for 2024-07-12
Looking back at the week with an eye to the future.
The weekly coffee meetup series change of plans ran into tourist overflow and might come back in the Fall. Cru is right next door to The Vault and is also very busy for a Friday Coffee in July. Another lesson learned: If the event has coffee in the name⦠consider three alternative coffee houses.

Next month, fudge.org should have Google Adsense enabled which I last experimented with over a decade ago. However, for users browsing with ad blockers there wonβt be one of those annoying βplease turn off your ad blockerβ messages.
I am still getting prepared for traffic to fudge.org newsletter automated sponsorship management via Buttondown. I have another sponsor that will go live in August as well.
My original 11ty version and opinionated starter for fudge.org will be going through major revisions. 11ty is close to reaching 3.x and Iβveve been fine with earlier releases but want to get the advantages of what 3.x brings.

Mastodon continues to be an interesting experiment and I think that LinkedIn might be worth continuing to publish to but not as a newsletter platform. I believe that my LinkedIn Newsletter(s) experimentation will be to drive traffic elsewhere which is contrary to LinkedIn goals of being a walled garden. π§ββοΈ
With the eventual reclamation of fudge.org and cuthrell.com in my roadmap, I continue noodling on using qthrul.com aka QTHRUL CORP as a holding site for cuthrell.consulting and anchor for cuthrell.net and cuthrell.org.

A quick message from Lida:
With 18 years building, marketing, and scaling products at startups, I work with founders and leaders stuck between where they are and where they need to be. I help you cut through the noise, make sharper decisions, and get your team executing with clarity instead of chaos.
Most founders mistake complexity for strategy. They keep adding when they should be subtracting. When I'm brought in, the team is usually doing a lot right, and the real issue is focus and direction. I diagnose what's actually going wrong across product, positioning, and execution, then reset direction and get everyone aligned around one clear path forward that will lead to growth.
A bit of what I've done: I was the first PM on a fintech product that hit 10,000+ users within months, built a national incubator that supported over $500M in startup funding, and led teams at 23 Design before it was acquired by frog (the design team behind Appleβs first products). I've spoken at Google, Microsoft, and LinkedIn, etc.
